Police probe school vandalism WOODBRIDGE — Screens were pulled off windows at three different schools in Iselin over a two-day period. The first incident occurred at 10:52 p.m. July 3 at Robert Mascenik School No. 26 on Benjamin Avenue. Police were dispatched to the school when someone called to say they saw two teens pulling screens off the windows at the school. When police arrived, they found two screens pulled off two windows on the right side and a screen pulled off at the rear of the building. The second and third incidents were reported to police at 11:19 a.m. July 5. When police arrived at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Memorial High School on Washington Avenue, they noticed that 11 window screens had been pulled out of the window frames from the rear of the school and were lying on the grass area near the windows. Several of the screens were damaged with holes in them, and at least one of the screens was broken, with the frame being snapped, according to the police report. While police were investigating the incident at JFK, they were informed about a similar incident at the Iselin Middle School on Woodruff Street. When police arrived at that school, they saw that approximately 11 screens had been pulled out of the window frames. Several of the screens had been damaged, with at least one of the screens being bent in half, police said. |
