Resident wants to know Ricigliano's plan for Edison
The vitriolic Edison mayoral primary is now behind us. By most, if not all, accounts, it was an exceptionally rancorous campaign season for the township residents to weather. But June 2 has passed and, therefore, so too should the arguments about which campaign was the most malevolent.

Congratulations are due to Mrs. Antonia Ricigliano for winning the race. However, as a resident, I am left with a major issue that has not been answered.

What is Mrs. Ricigliano's plan for my community? She never offered one as a primary candidate.

By winning the primary, she has come that much closer to actually becoming the mayor, and we still have no idea as to what she plans to do for Edison.

If her campaign promise of cutting taxes by $25 million is to become an actual reality, I, as I am sure many others, would like to know how she is planning to do this. If one were to calculate $750,000 per tax point in Edison, to cut the taxes by $25 million, she would have to drop the tax rate by 33.3 tax points. Since the municipal tax rate was 1.06 last year, Mrs. Ricigliano would be promising a 30 percent drop in municipal property taxes. If she can cut our taxes by 30 percent, she will surely be hailed as one of the most successful mayors in the nation. Mrs. Ricigliano made that promise, so she needs to make good on this.

Therefore, I am asking Mrs. Ricigliano to explain in detail what her actual plan is to cut taxes? How will it be possible without radical diminution of municipal services? If she plans on receiving voter confidence and support so that she can win the election in November, we will need to know what the plans are.
