      Colonia golf classic to take place June 8
            The Richard M. Hale Memorial Golf Classic will take place June 8, at the Colonia Country Club, 300 Colonia Blvd., Colonia. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. The format of play is "play your own ball" with standard scoring.

      Police receive Click It or Ticket grant
            The state Division of Highway Traffic Safety approved a $4,000 Click It or Ticket 2009 grant to the Metuchen Police Department. The funding allows the Metuchen police to take time to strictly enforce the seat-belt law. The enforcement began May 18 and will continue until May 31.

            Middlesex County's Agricultural Extension Office will present a garden workshop, "Low Budget & Low Maintenance Landscapes," 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 30 at the EARTH Center in Davidson's Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick. Registration is required by May 22.

      Colonia AARP to host luncheon and show
            Colonia AARP Chapter 3459 is planning a trip to LiGreci's Staaten in Staten Island, N.Y., for a luncheon and show, "USO Stars & Stripes Extravaganza," May 20. The price is $7l per person. The package includes transportation by motor coach, one-hour open bar, complete luncheon, and meal gratuity.

      Pavers at monument available to honor vets
            As part of its ongoing efforts to restore and beautify the Woodbridge Township Soldiers and Sailors Monument, the Historical Association of Woodbridge Township is adding brick pavers, which will be engraved with the names of township citizens who have served in the U.S. armed forces and the Merchant Marine.
