Rutgers University Athletic Director Robert E. Mulcahy, III has announced that Jason Baum has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. He joined the Rutgers staff in August 2006, serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Football Media and Public Relations.

"Jason is a bright and energetic individual, a true professional," Mulcahy said. "He understands the business and the demands of athletics. I am confident Jason will do an excellent job in his new role."

In his new position, Baum will oversee all activities in the athletic communications office. The department is responsible for publicizing the Scarlet Knights' 24 intercollegiate sports. Baum will continue to handle all media services directly related to the Rutgers football program.

Prior to his appointment at Rutgers, Baum worked at the University of Central Florida from 2002-06. He served as both the assistant and associate director during his tenure and was responsible for coordinating all media efforts for the Knights' football and baseball programs.
