'Autism Awareness' at Matthew Jago April 30

The fifth annual "Autism Awareness" program will be held at Matthew Jago School, 99 Glen Cove Road, Sewaren, at 6:30 p.m. April 30. The PACE (Program for the Advancement of Children's Education) parents organization has gathered a group of professionals to help parents and educators navigate the world of autism. Sessions will include a parents support group, demonstrations that are positive influences for children on the spectrum, and therapies that will assist in raising the quality of life for all who encounter autism spectrum disorder. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. Patrick Cierra of Tumble Jams will speak about social skills training, social skills groups and sensory integration. Tony Onorato of ATA Karate will demonstrate and speak about sensory, structure and following directions. Dr. Betty Jarusiewicz will speak about neurofeedback. Teachers will receive professional development hours. Parents and loved ones will receive information to help them improve the lives of the ones they care for.
