PAHS class of '38 slates reunion

The Perth Amboy High School class of 1938 will hold its 70-year reunion June 16 in the tree-shaded grove behind the former Danish Home, 855 New Durham Road (Route 510), Edison.

The graduates lived through the Great Depression, which followed the stock market crash of 1929. Three and a half years after their graduation, many were members of a branch of the armed forces after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Most are approaching their 90th birthday. They communicated initially by party-line phone or by Western Union, heard history being made on their radios and later saw it on television. They experienced silent movies, then talkies, then Technicolor films.

For additional information, contact Shep Sewitch at (732) 441-1111, Lil Handerhan (732) 826-0072, Carl Pederson (732) 738- 9466, Rose Switalski (732) 549-2362, or Helen Thomas (732) 738-9607.
