Animal shelter workers boon to community
I strongly disagree with the negative letters recently printed regarding the Woodbridge Animal Shelter and the Health Department Staff. Dennis Green and his staff, Animal Control officer Mercedes Lopez in particular, have an enormous love for animals and are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating to good homes, all animals no matter the species, no matter the breed. I have personally witnessed Ms. Lopez rescuing and caring for animals as if they were members of her own family, in good weather and bad, with little regard for her own discomfort. It would be hard to find an Animal Control Group with more love and dedication for animals and more willing to go the extra mile to save just one, than we have in these people.

I wonder where all these voices were before we had a proper shelter, which I might add, Dennis Green and his staff worked diligently for years to bring to Woodbridge. I could speak for hours on the amazing work being done by the Animal Control Officers and was so inspired I volunteered to assist the Woodbridge Animal Group. The town and the animals are extremely fortunate to have such committed Animal Control Officers. And while it is true that some animals that are a danger to others are sadly euthanized, it is a decision that is taken very seriously and certainly does not diminish the wonderful work their group does on daily basis.
