Funds needed for teen fighting cancer

A fundraiser for Caiti Brown, 17, who has been fighting a tough battle with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, since 2004, will be held at 2 p.m. March 2 at American Legion Post 87, 314 Berry St.

Brown is the daughter of formerWoodbridge residents Brian Brown and Michelle Elliott Brown. After being disappointed by the results of four major surgeries and extensive chemotherapy, her family has made the decision to send Caiti to Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Ariz., for additional treatment. Unfortunately, the family will incur expenses exceeding $100,000, which will not be covered by their medical insurance.

The family's goal is to help raise as much money as possible to help Caiti get to Arizona for the treatment she desperately needs.

Tickets are $25 per person and include DJ music, hot and cold buffet, beer, wine and soda.

Donations may be sent to Caiti Brown Trip for Life and mailed to P.O. Box 8, Toms River, NJ 08753.
