WOODBRIDGE - Vandals swept up six tractor-trailers from a Paddock Street parking lot in Avenel last week.

The thefts occurred between 3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and 4:55 a.m. Feb. 4, police said.

Someone stole a red 1993 Freightliner tractor-trailer valued at $12,000 and a white 1995 Freightliner tractor-trailer valued at $15,000, both owned by ES Freight USA in Avenel, the police report said.

Ablue 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer valued at approximately $20,000, also owned by ES Freight USA, was stolen between 4 p.m. Feb. 3 and 4 a.m. Feb. 4, police said.

Someone stole three 53-foot box trail- ers - a 1999, a 1998, and a 2001 truck containing $100,000 in appliances of LG brand washers, dryers, dishwashers, and refrigerators - owned by Jeffrey Transport in Avenel between 9 p.m. Feb. 1 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 4, police said.

Two screwdrivers were found at the scene, police said.

Earlier in the week, between noon, Jan. 25 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29, someone stole a 45-foot white 1980 tractor-trailer and a 48-foot 1979 white tractor-trailer, owned by S&S Distribution Inc. in Rahway, that were parked in the parking lot on Englehard Avenue in Avenel, which is approximately two miles from the parking lot on Paddock Street, police said.

Both trailers were empty and had mechanical problems with the landing gear and had no air brakes, police said.
