Large pool stolen
BY KATHY CHANG Staff Writer

WOODBRIDGE - A half-milliondollar stainless-steel pool owned by the Blue Streak Aquatic Swim Club in Warren was stolen from a lot on Riverside Drive in Keasbey, police said.

The theft occurred between 2 p.m. Dec. 30 and 11:45 a.m. Jan. 17, the police report said.

A representative of the swim club told police that they were looking for a piece of property to relocate the 50- meter-by-30-meter pool, which was used in the Olympic trials, the police report said.

The swim club had been storing the pool in six containers at the end of Riverside Drive in a secured lot. The pool had to be trucked in and unloaded into the containers, police said.

The representative told police that when he went down to the property to check the containers, he observed that five out of the six containers had been broken into, police said.

The suspects had to also cut the locks off three gates to enter the property, police said.

When police asked the representative how difficult it would be to remove the pool, he stated that the pool had to be trucked out and several people would have to load all of the stainless steel - which he said should be unique and easy to recognize - onto trucks, the police report said.

The pool was in pieces, including trusses, supports and much more. The suspects left behind the pumps for the pool, the police report said.
