Charitable organizations receive foundation grants

The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, Newark, has announced its final round of grants for 2007, totaling $1,951,000. The foundation supports charitable organizations that promote health, the arts and cultural programs throughout New Jersey.

Local grant recipients were:

• American Conference on Diversity, New Brunswick, $20,000 to support The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey Healthcare Cultural Competency Train the Trainer Program

• American Heart Association Inc., Robbinsville, $25,000 to support its Health Disparities in Heart Health/Closing the Gap Through Community Education program

• American Repertory Ballet, New Brunswick, $10,000 to support its Dance Power program as well as education and outreach programming for New Jersey public school students

• New Jersey Foundation of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, Edison, $50,000 to support its donated dental services program

• Ocean Community Economic Action Now Inc., Toms River, $55,000 to support its Project Healthy Smiles Dental Initiative that provides dental screenings and treatment for 420 uninsured children ages 2-5 in Ocean County

• The ARC of New Jersey Inc., North Brunswick, $27,000 to support its Health- Help for New Jersey Families Project.
