Web site lets people know where to wine, dine in twp.
Site organizes, lists local restaurants
BY KATHY CHANG Staff Writer
With one click of a button, people can view the various restaurants, eateries, dining locations, caterers and lounges throughout the township.

"Going online to dine in Woodbridge is a great resource for anyone looking for world-class dining or just plain good home cooking anywhere in Woodbridge," said Mayor John E. McCormac, who announced the listing on Dec. 24.

The listing of all the places is online at www.woodbridgenj-restaurants.com.

"We're looking to make it easier for residents and visitors to find out what Woodbridge has to offer, and one of our hidden treasures is the variety of dining and international cuisines available throughout Woodbridge," said McCormac.

The Web site helps the residents and visitors locate restaurants of their interest by breaking down all listings by type of dining, location, and cuisine. The site also provides links to restaurantWeb sites, photos of their atmospheres, and directions andmaps to the restaurants.

The mayor noted that over the past year, numerous national-chain restaurants and eateries such as Bonefish Grill, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Famous Dave's Barbecue and Pollo Tropical have opened new restaurants in Woodbridge. Additionally, family-owned restaurants like Marcello's, McLoone's at Favorites, Il Castello's and Chris Michaels Steak House are serving the finest in upscale cuisines.

Several other nationally recognized and popular restaurants are in line to open in 2008.

In June, the Planning Board unanimously voted in favor of the restaurants Olive Garden and Bahama Breeze, which are owned by Darden Restaurants Inc., based in Orlando, Fla. The restaurants will be built next to the Woodbridge Center mall by May 2008.

Patrons also have a choice of the restaurants that have been in the township for a long time, such as Rugs & Riffys, Casa Guiseppe, Mulberry Street Restaurant and Bar, J.J. Bitting, Center Bar & Pizza and Big Shots Sports Bar and Grill.

The township also caters to more than 30 Asian-Indian restaurants such as Ashoka, Chowpatty, Taj Mahal, Kohinoor, Bombay Chaat House and ethnic restaurants like Mie Thai, Yoshi Sushi, Desiree Wok, Blue Ginger and Minal Palace.

"Woodbridge offers more restaurant and dining choices thanmost communities in the state," said McCormac.

The site can also be located via the Woodbridge Township Web site at www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us.
