Police make marijuana arrest
WOODBRIDGE - A marijuana distribution investigation by the special investigation unit of the township police department, which was executed in the parking lot of the Sheraton Inn on Route 1 in the Iselin section of the township on Dec. 8, led to two arrests.
Police arrested and charged James Talmadge, 35, who gave police addresses in Newark, Rahway and Union, with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, police said.
Police also arrested and charged Donna Stanley, 41, Egg Harbor Township, with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and conspiracy to distribute, police said.
"At 8:55 p.m., members of the special investigations unit observed the passenger [Talmadge] of a 2001 Jaguar get out the vehicle and look around," said Capt. Robert Hubner, head of the special investigations unit.
At that time, police approached the vehicle and detected an odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.
Police discovered that Stanley was the owner of the vehicle, and they received consent from Stanley to search her car, police said.
Police found four large packs of marijuana wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper in the trunk of the vehicle, each weighing 20 pounds, police said.
Talmadge's bail was set at $250,000 with no 10 percent option, and he was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, police said.
Stanley was released on her recognizance, police said.
Officers from Union, Rahway and Clark police departments assisted in the investigation.
