Sports Shorts The Rutgers men's basketball program has released its 2007 summer camp dates. The Scarlet Knights will host a variety of camps, including a Day Camp, an Overnight Individual Camp, Father/Son Weekend, an Evening Team Camp, as well as an Overnight Team Camp. Each camp will be directed by head coach Fred Hill and the Scarlet Knights' coaching staff. All camps will take place at the Rutgers Athletic Center on five regulation size courts. The Day Camp features two sessions (June 25-29 and July 30-Aug. 3) and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for boys entering second through ninth grade. Each player will receive a camp T-shirt, camp ball and a self-improvement workout. Each day will encompass basketball drills, games, lectures and individual instruction. Early arrivals and late dismissals are available and campers bring their own lunch. The cost is $225 per session. The Overnight Individual Skills Camp will have a single session running from Sunday, July 8 to Wednesday, July 11. Campers entering the sixth through 12th grade will join the Rutgers coaching staff in four days of intense skill development. The cost is $375 per session and camp tuition includes three nights lodging, all meals, instruction, a jersey and a comprehensive drill booklet. The Evening Team Camp (June 24-28) will take place from 6-10 p.m. all five nights. Each team will play two games per night for a total of 10 games, and game officials will be used for all contests. Every participant will receive a camp T-shirt. The cost per team is $525. The Overnight Team Camp (June 29-July 1 and July 27-29) gives individuals the chance to compete against some of the top teams in the region. There will be two divisions (varsity and subvarsity) and each team will play seven games. Guest speakers will provide lectures on skill development as well as strength and conditioning. The cost is $215 per player ($145 for commuters) with a minimum of eight players per team. The following are the results of the Tamarack Women's Nine-Hole Golf Association's May 31 outing - odd holes, half handicap. Inge Robinson won the A Flight with a 17, followed by Ellie de la Bandera (18), Kathleen Farmer (18) and Janet Hefelfinger (18). Jo-Ann Kaczmarek won the B Flight with a 16, followed by Cathy Cosgrove (18), Morie Marino (18) and Annabelle Donnamaria (18). Mary Thompson won the C Flight with a 16, followed by Carole Eory (19), Susan Caldwell (19) and Connie Moore (20). Ellie de la Bandera and Mary Ann Gelsinon had fewest putts with 16. The Lynn Ust Hoops Summer Basketball Camp will be held for two sessions (June 25-29 and July 9-13) at Cardinal McCarrick High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for boys and girls ages 7-17. Colts Neck head cross country and track and field coach Jim Schlentz and his wife, Madeline Noe-Schlentz, a record-breaking master's runner, are among the top coaches and runners who will be featured at the USA Cross Country Forum, sponsored by Nike. The forum will be held Aug. 8 in Wilson Auditorium on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hackensack. Among the other speakers will be Matt Centrowitz (American University and former American record holder in the 5,000 meters), Bill Aris (coach of Fayetteville-Manlius High School) and Pat Tyson (University of Kentucky). Bill Dellinger, former University of Oregon head coach and a silver medalist in the 5,000 meters at the 1964 Olympics, is the special guest. The cost is $99 before July 15, and $125 thereafter.
