Police are investigating apparent suicide in Edison

EDISON - Police reported an apparent suicide of a 46-year-old Edison resident sometime overnight between Saturday June 9 and Sunday June 10.

The victim, whose name is being withheld, lived on Norwood Place, according to Edison Sgt. Robert Dudash. He said that the victim was found in the driveway of his home, between a car and the door to the garage. Dudash said that made him difficult to be seen from the street.

Dudash said the cause of death appears to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head but would not definitively call it suicide until the medical examiner's report officially gives the cause of death.

A canvas of the neighborhood, Dudash said, yielded reports of two "popping" sounds around 11:20 p.m. on June 9.

"It is possible that the loud noises were most likely gunshots in the driveway," Dudash said.

The name of the victim has been withheld until the notification procedure is complete, Dudash said.
