MCC's Charles names first team All-America

MIDDLESEX COUNTY COLLEGE ATHLETICS Hensley Charles was a big part of the Colts' success this year, and is getting the individual accolades as a result.
Hensley Charles, a star player for the Middlesex County College basketball team, was named first team All America by the National Junior College Athletic Conference. Charles, a 6-8 sophomore, had 444 points, 316 rebounds and 82 blocks during the season to go with his 39 assists and 23 steals. He was a dominating player on both offense and defense.

"He is a very coachable young man, very smart," said Corey Lowery, the head coach. "He does whatever he can do to help the team. I tell the players to buy into the team concept and the individual accolades will come. Hensley did an excellent job."

Middlesex went 25-3 this season.

Lowery said Charles is having discussions with several four-year Division I schools about transferring into their programs.

"He has a very bright future as an athlete and a student," Lowery said. "He's going to do great things in basketball and beyond."
