Longtime letter-writer says so long to NJ

As I look back on my life here in Woodbridge Township, particularly Iselin, I can honestly say it's been a good life here. I couldn't have grown up in a better town than Iselin. The schools were top-notch, the neighbors friendly and supportive, and just overall a great place to live. However, all good things must come to an end. Economics are a huge factor for me.

So, I've begun to look elsewhere for my future home. New Jersey, with its very high standard-of-living costs, has been ruled out. It's just not a good place for someone on a fixed income to live. So, this summer I will pack everything up, and head west, in the Midwest. It's a bittersweet choice I've made. While I'll miss the many people I've met and became friends with, I look to my move as a positive step forward.

I will, no doubt, feel depressed for a time, not having those familiar faces, those friendly, wonderful people I see every day. By the same token, I take a huge step into the unknown, to meet new people in a new neighborhood. I'm sure to make friends wherever I move. I wish everybody here in Woodbridge Township the very best.

I enjoyed writing my letters to the editor for the past 13 years, and the local celebrity status I've had with some of our fellow residents. God Bless, and take good care of one another.
