Resident battles for public animal shelter

I have been fighting for a public animal shelter to be built in Woodbridge for the past four years and yes, it is a fight. I feel there are two different issues at hand, No. 1 being that the township has promised to build a public animal shelter and No. 2 being the partnership the township is considering with Dr. Barry Adler.

We cannot lose focus on the fact that many promises have been made by several township officials through the years that Woodbridge would finally be getting a public animal shelter. There is currently $750,000 set aside for the animal shelter. The township could rebid, scale down a bit on the shelter plans or even add on in the future and build a smaller shelter for now near the health center as originally planned.

In the four years that I have been begging and pleading with township officials for a public shelter, we could have already had several shelters built. As far as I am concerned, there is no other alternative but to build the public animal shelter as promised. Let's not forget the focal point here, which is the homeless animals themselves.

The township and the public can work together and make this shelter a reality. And please remember that while the animals have no voice, we can be the voice for them.
