Voters go to polls for fire district commishs, budgets

WOODBRIDGE - Come Feb. 17, residents will be asked to vote for the open seats up for fire commissioner positions and vote for the fire budget for each of the nine fire districts.

The voting stations will be set up from 2-9 p.m. at each of the individual firehouses on Feb. 17.

Richard T. Gould and Todd Howell of the Woodbridge and Sewaren Fire District 1 are running unopposed for the two seats up for fire commissioner this year. Gould is running for his fifth term, and Howell is running for his second term.

The total appropriations for the Woodbridge and Sewaren Fire District No. 1 budget totals $5,950,770.

Fire District 1 will have a voting station set up at the Woodbridge Fire House located at 418 School St. and a station at the Sewaren Public Library.

Louis V. Nardiello is running for his first three-year term against incumbents Robert J. Hilliard Jr. and Brian Dziedzic for the two seats open for fire commissioner for the Port Reading Fire District No. 2. Hilliard is running for his third term, and Dziedzic is running for his second term.

The total appropriations for the Port Reading Fire District No. 2 budget totals $1,500, 378.

Carlos L. Gonzalez Jr., 25, who has been a professional firefighter for the city of Perth Amboy for three years, is running for his first three-year term against two incumbents Walter E. Hanks and Patrick Agugliaro for the two seats open for fire commissioner for the Avenel Fire District No. 5.

The total appropriations for the Avenel Fire District No. 5 is $1,735,049.

George Brew and Richard Pinter of the Fords Fire District No. 7 are running unnopposed for the two seats up for fire commissioner this year. Brew is running for his third term, and Pinter is running for his eighth term.

The total appropriations for the Fords Fire District No. 7 fire budget is $2,011,842.

Tom Mayoros and Dennis Petrick of the Hopelawn Fire District No. 8 are running unnopposed for the two seats up for fire commissioner this year. Mayoros is running for his third term, and Petrick is running for his first term.

The total appropriations for the Hopelawn Fire District No. 8 is $607,750.

Michael Rudy of East Iselin Fire District No. 9 is running unopposed for one seat up for fire commissioner this year.

The total appropriations for the East Iselin Fire District No. 9 is $2,390,677.

Steven Freeman and Thomas Karlin of the West Iselin Fire District No. 11 are running unopposed for the two seats up for fire commissioner this year. Freeman is running for his fifth term, and Karlin is running for his third term.

The total appropriations for the West Iselin Fire District No. 11 budget is $1,194,782.

Raymond J. Hughes and Edward Sheehan of the Colonia Fire District No. 12 are running unopposed for the two seats up for fire commissioner this year.

The total appropriations for the Colonia Fire District No. 12 budget is $1,605,990.

The Keasbey Fire District No. 4 could not be reached before press time.
