The Middlesex County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking teams for its annual Board of Chosen Freeholders Basketball Tournament, which starts March 5. This year's tournament will be held at the Middlesex County Vocational School, 21 Sutton Lane in Piscataway. This single-elimination tournament will consist of four divisions - youth division (boys and girls age 10 and under); youth division No. 2 (boys and girls age 12 and under); youth division No. 3 (boys and girls ages 13 and 14); and youth division No. 4 (boys and girls ages 15 to 17). Registration, a $50 per team entry fee, and team rosters are due Feb. 16. Checks can be made payable to Treasurer, Middlesex County, and mailed to Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Department, attention Erin Drakoulis, P.O. Box 661, New Brunswick, NJ, 08903.

The New Jersey Federation of Baseball Umpires is conducting a clinic on the following dates for membership in the organization: March 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22 and 27. The exam is on March 29 from 7-9 p.m. at the Mickey Sedlak Building on Dolan Street in Sayreville. For more information, call (732) 254-1587.

The Edison Recreation Department will be accepting team applications for the summer 2007 Softball Program beginning Tuesday, Feb. 13.

All applications are due back on or before Monday, March 12.

The league is open to all adults, 18 years and older. There is no township or county residency requirement.
