Fiber Revolution show runs through March 21

"Radiant Suns," a fiber art work by Carol Sara Schepps, is among the works that will be on display at the Academy of Music on Main Street.
SPOTSWOOD - Fiber art from nationally recognized artists' group Fiber Revolution is on display as part of a new show at the Academy of Music on Main Street.

"Art Concentrated: A Big Show of Petit Art" opened earlier this month and will run through March 21 at the gallery inside the academy, located at 508 Main St.

The show's title refers to the 26 framed works that measure a petit 4 by 6 inches. Normally works by Fiber Revolution artists average about 4 to 6 feet in width. Some of these larger pieces will be displayed at the show and will explode with color on the wall above the smaller works, according to organizers. The small pieces will be presented in deep frames and will be for sale.

"I am fascinated by the growing popularity of this art form and pleased we can provide it to our patrons and the community," Academy Director Melody Blasenheim said.

Kevan Lunney, curator of the Art Gallery at the Academy, is an East Brunswick resident and member of Fiber Revolution. Her piece, "The Dancer," will be on view. Lunney teaches and lectures locally on the topic of art quilts.

The artists participating in the gallery's show include Virginia Abrams, Rachel B. Cochran, Barbara Corrigan, Judy Cuddihee, Nike Cutsumpas, Pat Dolan, Cindy Friedman, Melissa Craven Fowler, Antoinette Hall, Gloria Hansen, Eileen Lauterborn, Kevan Lunney, Barbara Barrick McKie, Kris Moss, Carol Sara Schepps, Norma Schlager, Deborah Schwartzman, Melanie Testa, Carolyn Lee Veslage and Elin Waterston.
