YMCA director to work with township on health club tax

Thank you, for your recent story that focused on the new "Health Club Sales Tax" [Local YMCAs may benefit from legislation, Nov. 15] and the attempt by the Department of Treasury to apply it to the YMCA and to our work at Woodbridge Community Center. In the interest of clarity, I would want to clarify my feelings toward the Department of Treasury and the township of Woodbridge. Although I vehemently disagree and contest the attempt by the Department of Treasury to force Woodbridge Community Center to charge sales tax, I completely support the decision by Woodbridge Township to have us begin collecting sales tax at the Woodbridge Community Center until and unless this regulation is clearly eliminated. Our relationship with Woodbridge Township has been outstanding and the collective impact of our partnership at Woodbridge Community Center is significant, serving thousands of area residents.
