3 flee after robbery at mall jewelry store
BY KATHY CHANG
Staff Writer

WOODBRIDGE - Police are investigating a robbery at the Jewelry Exchange building near the Woodbridge Center mall recently.

The robbery occurred at 2:56 p.m. Sept. 29, police said.

An employee at Jewelry Exchange told police that she was working in one of the interior rooms of the office when she saw three people in the main office area, the police report said.

She said the first suspect - whom she described as a Hispanic male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, 135 pounds, and wearing a dark colored knit cap and a white T-shirt - was holding her wallet, which had been in her handbag under her desk, the police report said.

The employee told police that she yelled out "No" to the man and he answered in Spanish, police said.

The suspect then walked toward the victim and pushed her. She fell back and struck her back on a counter edge behind her, police said.

Then all three suspects ran out of the office, police said.

The victim described the second suspect as a male with dark hair and in his late teens, police said.

The victim could describe the third suspect only as in his or her late teens, police said.

The victim told police that nothing appeared to be missing from her wallet, or from her handbag, police said.
