Donors needed due to critical blood shortage

The Blood Center of New Jersey is asking residents to donate blood before during and after the Fourth of July holiday due to a critical shortage of inventory. There is an immediate need for all types of blood and serious shortages of types 0 positive and O negative.

The center will conduct the following upcoming community blood drives:

+ July 13, 4:30-8 p.m. - A Step in Time, Washington Road, ShopRite Plaza, Parlin section of Sayreville;

+ July 15, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - American Legion Post No. 253, Devoe Avenue, Spotswood.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age; there is no upper age limit. Donors should know their Social Security number and bring a signed or picture form of identification. Call (800) 652-5663, ext. 140.
