Backpacks sought for children in foster care

Stand for Children, a nonprofit organization based in the Iselin section of Woodbridge, is sponsoring its 10th annual Backpack Campaign throughout the month of May. New backpacks, both filled and empty, will be collected at the Woodbridge firehouse on School Street for children in foster care. The firehouse is open seven days a week. Backpacks can be prepared for girls or boys ages newborn to 17 years old. Suggested contents include toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo/conditioner, bath towels, washcloths, combs/brushes, toys, books and music, as well as school supplies. It is requested that the contents be adjusted according to the age and sex of the child the backpack is intended for. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be sent to Stand for Children, 324 Gill Lane, Suite 1A, Iselin 08830.
