Illegal immigrants are crippling the U.S. The current immigration topic is not an immigration issue. It is an illegal immigration problem that must be solved if we are to retain our sovereignty and our traditional American culture. All levels of our government, local, regional, and federal, have ignored the laws set forth during the last amnesty 20 years ago under the Reagan administration. Too many greedy American businesses, large and small, have been impetus for the invasion that has been and still is occurring across our border. The majority of Americans enjoy middle-class status as the result of hard work and good pay, unlike most countries to our south that have only two classes, the very poor and the very rich. The greedy American business are profiting from cheap labor while our middle class is providing the benefits such as medical, special education, and social welfare programs through our taxes. More laws, if disregarded by these employers, will have the same effect as the current ones - none! First, we must have border control sufficient to stem the flow of these felons, who obviously by their demonstrations lay claim to our country. They are pushing aside decent, law-abiding people who show respect for our laws and country by applying to enter and become American citizens the correct and legal way. Border security is of utmost importance, even urgent, in this post-9/11 era. It is inconceivable that in the 21st century, with all the modern technology, such as fingerprints, eye pupil identification, etc., that temporary workers cannot be kept track of legally and securely. Second, the greedy companies, large and small, must be held accountable and made to pay severely for their shameful actions, as they are lawbreakers as well as the illegals. Third, our governmental representatives have been failing us these past twenty years by allowing this disease to fester. That's right, a disease. Disease brings down, cripples, impairs and even kills a living being. In this case, it is our America. These leaders who are paid by us have not been fulfilling their jobs. Democrats and Republicans are so similar, especially in the Senate, that we may need a third party. In November, we voters should ring out the old and bring in the new.
