Funeral home providing free bereavement support

The Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen, continues to offer a bereavement support group. Ongoing sessions are held every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. to noon, as well as Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. The program, which is free of charge, takes place at the funeral home.

Carol Burner, a certified grief recovery specialist, facilitates the program. A professional with a master's degree in counseling from Seton Hall University, South Orange, she has spent the past eight years offering individual and group counseling to clients suffering from significant and tragic losses. Healing service coming to St. George's Church

The Rev. Nigel Mumford will lead a healing service beginning at 7 p.m. on March 17 at St. George's Church, 56 Main St., Helmetta. Registration is set for 6 p.m.

The Rev. Mumford, a former Royal Marine commando, is the director of the Healing Ministries of Christ the King Spiritual Life Center of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, N.Y.

Free tax prep for seniors, disabled in Woodbridge

The Woodbridge Township Division on Aging is offering assistance with tax preparation free of charge to eligible senior citizens and disabled township residents. Volunteers trained by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the N.J. Department of Taxation will be on hand to help residents ages 65 and older, or those under 65 receiving Social Security disability benefits. Assistance will be available for standard tax forms only. Sessions will run 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday through April 11 at the Woodbridge Health Center, 2 George Frederick Plaza. To be eligible, residents must meet income guidelines. Iselin AARP lines up spring, summer trips

Iselin AARP Chapter No. 3810, Iselin section of Woodbridge, has scheduled the following trips for members and other interested seniors:

+ April 12 - Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. Cost is $35, which includes show ticket, $10 coupon for buffet and $5 in coins.

+ May 6 - Strawberry Festival at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, Bucks County, Pa.

+ June 10 - "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.

+ July 22 - "Broadway Sally" at Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in Hampton, Hunterdon County (includes lunch).

Colonia Seniors Club schedules several trips

The Colonia Senior Citizens Club, Colonia section of Woodbridge, has planned the following events:

+ April 11 - Pirate Bash at Renault Winery and four-hour stay at the Hilton Casino Resort, both in Atlantic City.

+ May 9 - "Bon Voyage: Around the World in 80 Minutes" at Lily Langtry's in King of Prussia, Pa.

The Colonia Senior Citizens Club holds meetings at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Colonia firehouse on Inman Avenue.

Colonia AARP 3459 slates two spring trips

Colonia AARP Chapter No. 3459 has planned a one-day lunch and entertainment trip to The Brownstone in Paterson on March 23, featuring a production of "The St. Joseph's Festival." Cost is $59 per person.

Also, a two-day trip is scheduled May 24-25 to Delaware Park Racetrack & Slots and Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre, both in Wilmington, as well as Atlantic City. Cost is $192 for a single occupancy, and $152 per person for a double or a triple. Overnight stay will be at the Holiday Inn in Wilmington/Newark, Del.

Elks flea market held every Tues. and Sat.

Woodbridge Elks Lodge 2116 holds a flea market at the Elks Hall, 665 Rahway Ave., from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday and Saturday (weather permitting), featuring more than 60 vendors. The hall is located across from Trinity Church.

American Legion slates March 15 blood drive

American Legion T. Nulty Post No. 471 will be sponsoring a blood drive from 2:30 to 8 p.m. March 15 at the post home, 25 Brown Ave., Iselin section of Woodbridge. For more information, call the post at (732) 636-9524.

Colonia Seniors slates day trip to Atlantic City

The Colonia Senior Citizens Club, Colonia section of Woodbridge, has scheduled a day trip to Atlantic City on March 20. The group will depart at 11 a.m. from the St. John Vianney Church parking lot on Inman Avenue, Colonia. Cost is $16.
