Theodore “Ted” Render

Mr. Render, 81, of South Amboy, died Jan. 18 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in South Amboy, he had lived there all his life. Prior to retiring, he was employed for many years as a painter with brothers Jim and Bill Harvey in South Amboy. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, also South Amboy. Mr. Render was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Philip Render. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and John English; a nephew and his wife, Philip and Anna English; a niece, LaVerne English; and a great-niece, Stephanie English, all of South Amboy. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment took place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Amboy.

Robert E. Murphy

Mr. Murphy, 58, of Freehold, died Jan. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Queens, N.Y., he had resided in Elmont, N.Y., before moving to Freehold 18 years ago. He was employed as vice president of risk management for Chase Home Finance, Iselin section of Woodbridge, for the past 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-69, and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his wife, Elaine, in 2005, as well as his father, John; a brother, Frank; and two sisters, Joan Mellet and Mary Nelan. Surviving are two sons, Michael and Christopher, both of Freehold; his mother, Edna Murphy of Queens; a brother, Thomas of Ringwood; a sister, Carol Hynes, also of Queens; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Dominguez III

Mr. Dominguez, 63, of Edison, died Jan. 16. Prior to retiring in 2005, he worked for Maher Terminals, Port Elizabeth, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member and minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, South Edison, for 39 years. Mr. Dominguez was also an elder in the congregation and a volunteer construction worker of Kingdom Halls, houses of worship specifically for the deaf, throughout the state. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Patricia Fasano Dominguez; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph J. and Elizabeth Dominguez, Mark Dominguez, Peter Dominguez, and Michael and Jeanette Dominguez; a daughter, Rachel Dominguez; his mother, Catherine Dominguez; a brother, Daniel Dominguez; a sister, Diana Bartruff; five grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Plainfield.

Ruth M. Walsh

Mrs. Walsh, 77, of South River, died Jan. 12 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was employed for 30 years as a high school teacher with the Edison Township Board of Education. Her husband, William A. Walsh, died in 1964. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Walsh of South River. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Stanislaw Gromadzki

Mr. Gromadzki, 73, of the Somerset section of Franklin, formerly of Perth Amboy, died Jan. 11 at home. Prior to his retirement in 2003, he was employed by Alpha Associates, Woodbridge, where he worked for 27 years. Surviving are his wife, Wladyslawa Skrzypczak Gromadzki; four sons, Jan of South Amboy, Tadeusz of Perth Amboy, the Rev. Stanley Gromadzki, pastor of St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River, and the Rev. Michael Gromadzki of Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords section of Woodbridge; and five grandsons. A Mass was concelebrated at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church. Interment was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

Rosemarie F. Murphy Madsen

Mrs. Madsen, 70, of South River, died Jan. 9 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Andy Madsen; three daughters, Susan Grasso of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, and Kari Cole and Christine Hohner, both of South River; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville section of Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.

Thomas J. Kwiecinski

Mr. Kwiecinski, 57, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of South Amboy, died Jan. 9 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. He worked for the past 13 years as an electrical technician with Superior Office Systems, Edison. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Helen Kwiecinski. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Niziolek Kwiecinski; two sons, Keith and Eric, both of Parlin; and a sister, Dolores Cross of South Amboy. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private.
