Fords-Keasbey Seniors Club lines up events

The Fords-Keasbey Seniors Club holds meetings at 2 p.m. every Friday in the cafeteria at Our Lady of Peace Church, Amboy Avenue, Fords section of Woodbridge.

Membership is open year-round to those ages 60 and older who live in Woodbridge and do not belong to any other township senior club.

Applicants must appear at the meeting by 1:30 p.m.

The Fords librarian is present on the first Friday of each month.

Blood pressure is taken on the third Friday of the month.

A trip to Caesars Casino in Atlantic City is planned for every third Wednesday.

Volunteers sought to help domestic violence victims

The Woodbridge Township Domestic Violence Response Team is seeking new members.

Any interested persons who want to make a difference in the lives of domestic violence victims will be asked to fill out an application form.

A criminal background check and an interview are part of the process.

All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have their own transportation to police headquarters for assistance calls.

Team members are required to be available for 12-hour shifts from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., or from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

AARP sponsors monthly

trips to Atlantic City

The AARP Chapter No. 3459/Colonia, Woodbridge, sponsors trips to Caesars Casino in Atlantic City on the second Monday of the month. The bus leaves the parking lot of St. John Vianney Elementary School, Inman Avenue, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $16. For reservations, call Fran at (732) 388-0359.

Homebuyers seminar slated at library Jan. 28

A free homebuyers education seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Jan. 28 at the Woodbridge Public Library, 1 George Frederick Plaza. A licensed specialist will offer tips on home ownership. Space is limited. R.S.V.P. by calling (732) 429-0933.

Colonia Senior Citizens Club announces trips

The Colonia Senior Citizens Club meets at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Colonia firehouse on Inman Avenue, Colonia section of Woodbridge.

The club has planned the following trips:

• Feb. 9 — Everybody’s Birthday at the Tropicana in Atlantic City

• March 8 — The Villa “Broadway in Concert”

• April 11 — Pirate Bash at Renault Winery and a four-hour stay at the Hilton, both in Atlantic City

Garden Club offering free ‘hyertufa’ demonstration

The Woodbridge Garden Club will present a free demonstration on making “hyertufa” — rock-like garden containers — at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Iselin Branch of the Woodbridge Public Library, 1081 Green St., Iselin.

The club meets from September through June at the library on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:45 p.m. New members are always welcome. Visit the club’s Web site at www.woodbridgegardenclub.com.

Woodbridge AARP 3869 announces Jan., Feb. trips

Woodbridge AARP Chapter 3869 has scheduled a trip to Trump Plaza Casino in Atlantic City for Jan. 30.

On Feb. 16 the group will visit the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, N.Y., to see the musical comedy “Aida.” Cost is $68, which includes transportation, a luncheon and the show.

Both trips are open to the public. Also, local membership is open to paid-up members of the national AARP chapter.
