The Edison Chamber of Commerce, 629 Amboy Ave., supports a national campaign to register voters for the next election, beginning in May and running through the end of October.

The chamber encourages all citizens to register at one of the 900 stores across the county, including United Check Cashing, 266 Talmadge Road, Edison.

The drive is sponsored by the Financial Service Centers of America (FISCA), who believes every voice should be heard and every vote does count.

Xtreme Fitness-Total Athletic Club, 191 Talmadge Road, Edison, will sponsor a health fair and blood drive on May 22 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Building Contractors Association of New Jersey presented its highest safety awards to 22 member firms at its luncheon April 7.

Members were awarded for completing the previous year without losing a single workday due to an accident and for finishing last year with "lost workday incident rates" below the national average.

Local business recipients who received awards for zero lost time incidents were: Conover & Brems Inc., Edison, and Willard Dunham Construction Co., Woodbridge.

Ellen Clarkson, of Metuchen, has been installed as the new president of Jewish Family & Vocational Service of Middlesex County, Edison. She will serve a two-year term. She succeeds Linda Erdreich.

The 24th annual JFVS board meeting and volunteer staff recognition evening was held recently at Temple Emanu-El, Edison. Dozens of volunteers were hon­ored for their time and service.

In 2003, JFVS served 13,500 clients from Central Jersey. The agency is funded in part by the United Way of Cen­tral Jersey.

Cheryl Marcus of the Colonia section of Woodbridge was pro­moted to team mentor by Tastefully Sim­ple Inc., based in Alexandria, Minn. Tastefully Simple, founded in 1995, sells upscale, gourmet foods and gifts.

The Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce, 52 Main St., Woodbridge, will hold its golf classic at the Colonia Country Club on June 7.

Diane Calamari and Diane Cea have been named top associates for the month of April at ERA Dineen Realty, Parlin section of Sayreville.

Calamari, a Dineen associate for eight years, is a member of the 1999-2001 New Jersey Association of Realtors Million Dollar Club and a 2002 and 2003 Circle of Excellence Award winner.

Cea, a Realtor/associate for more than 10 years, is one of the most pro­ductive associates in the state.
