VFW member urges Memorial Day reflection

This Memorial Day, more than any other in recent memory, must not be ignored.

Finally, we’ll dedicate our World War II National Memorial in Washington, D.C. No other group of veterans deserves it more.

Our national Korean War Memorial was dedicated a few years ago, but I still think these veterans have never received their just due.

Although the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial is visited by more people than any other war memorial, the fact still remains that Vietnam veterans are ignored.

It’s about time we, as a grateful nation, proudly stand up and put all veterans on a pedestal as one, and remember all those who gave the supreme sacrifice so that we can cherish our freedom.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention veterans who were killed in other conflicts. They, too, deserve our gratitude and our respect.

Last but not least, please keep in mind our current soldiers who are serving and dying in Afghanistan and Iraq.

And so, our veterans’ pedestal remains crowded but stands tall, and will never fall.

God bless America and keep her strong.
